Meet the Creator of Alien All-Stars

derek workshop tavern

Hey Earth peeps!

My name is Derek Munson. I’m the guy who created Alien All-Stars.  This project has occupied my imagination for the past 6 years, to the point where I think it may have actually moved in and taken over…It started as a story called Henry and Zagmar that I wrote in 2002 or 2003. It has since evolved into a 16 team alien baseball league with full rosters, yearly schedules, and a detailed history of legends and galactic champions. Viva los aliens!

I am also the guy who wrote the kids book Enemy Pie. It won a bunch of awards, sold a ton of copies (6 tons actually), has been translated into 40-something languages, it was read by movie stars on tv… the whole gig. It’s been amazing to watch, and feels super good to have something of value to share with people. And it opened the door for one of my dream jobs, doing author visits at elementary schools across the country. I’ve worked with 0ver 100,000 kids, leading mind-bending assemblies and workshops that ignite the imagination. Woot woot!

Beyond work: My wife Suzanne is eligible for sainthood. Our 4 year old son Zachy is training to be a ninja. And our 6 year old daughter Abby is psychic. We have 2 goldfish, Sam and Nancy. I like long distance skateboarding, aikido, creative play, quantum physics, perpetual motion, mysticism and rhythm.
